[in singular] informal A musical mixture or blending of original material, lesser known covers and traditional Americana. Prepared and cooked slowly by a band of individuals of mixed age and heritage. Lovingly presented for your enjoyment.
During late 2014, Ross Brown, a prolific singer / songwriter from Pittsford, New York came to the conclusion that his already substantial songbook, much of it yet to be heard in public, needed a forum to show his best self-penned examples. As his creative output continued unabated and new songs emerged, several each week at times, it was time to get a band together. The hunt was on for musicians who not only were birds of a feather musically, but brought to the table additional material and flavor that complements and extends a continually maturing repertoire.
Guitarist Colin Hansford was an early member of Mystic Stew who had previously played with Ross in Moja back in 2010. Collaborating in Ross's basement, it was obvious that much of Ross's material needed to be taken and developed further. Chris Towner, another founding member, plays mandolin, banjo and harmonica player along with the addition of his wonderful Rootsy vocal style. Percussionist Adam Candela was a lucky, yet suprising find considering his musical past life included a stint in a heavy metal band. Adam fits in beautifully within the band and now provides occasional harmony vocals. Last, but not least is our new Bass player, Jim Candela. Jim is Adam's Dad, and brings a whole new sound to the band on his upright bass, we are excited at the many new possibilities that Jim and his bass will bring.
So, we are on our way with strong material originating from many directions, we hope you like what we have put together.
